At the Clanree Hotel, we believe that true hospitality means caring not only for our guests, but also for our environment and community here in Letterkenny. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through practical, measurable actions that support a more sustainable future for Donegal, Ireland, and our planet.
Solar Energy
Our investment in solar panels allows us to harness clean, renewable energy directly from the sun. This significantly reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and lowers our overall carbon footprint, while ensuring a comfortable stay for our guests year-round.
Wood Chip Boiler
The hotel operates a wood chip boiler, using sustainably sourced wood fuel to provide heating and hot water. Biomass energy is a renewable alternative to traditional heating systems and plays a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the property.
Centrally Controlled Heating
Our centrally controlled heating system ensures efficient energy management throughout the hotel. By carefully monitoring and adjusting temperature levels, we minimise unnecessary energy consumption while maintaining consistent comfort in bedrooms, meeting rooms, leisure areas and public spaces.
Energy-Saving Key Card System
Guest rooms are fitted with a key card energy-saving system, meaning lights and certain electrical appliances operate only when the room is occupied. This simple but effective measure helps reduce electricity waste and supports our wider sustainability goals.
Sensor Lighting
Corridors are fitted with sensor lighting designed to activate only when required, reducing electricity consumption throughout the building.
Electric Car Charging
We have four electric car chargers situated in our car park, allowing guests to charge-up on site.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Sustainability is an ongoing journey. From energy efficiency to responsible resource management, we are continually reviewing and improving our practices. By staying at the Clanree Hotel, our guests become part of this commitment — helping us protect the natural beauty of Donegal for generations to come.
